After several seasons of obsessing over Bastard Pinks (
remember the blog? read it again here) I have found a sister color that plays nice with the pinks, grays and other muted pastels that are amazing for Spring/Summer.

Her name is Mae Mauve. Though I did not try to create a wikkipedia definition this time, I am passing on the beauty of this color to you all here:
Mae Mauve is a soft and subtle neutral color that can be used in a monochromatic color scheme or paired with like-hued muted pastels for a wash of color in a chic way. Mae Mauve is an homage to the fab Interior Designer 'Mae Brunken'
(www.maebrunkenstyle.com) who has introduced me to this color via her extraordinary interior stylings.
Cross-over in interior design and fashion are common and this is one amazing example of how it translates beautifully.
This is a snap shot of Interior Designer Mae Brunken's 'Mae Mauve' ottoman and wall color. This is where my mauve obsession originated...

On the interiors tangent, here is a cute shadow bathroom rug in Lilac by DKNY that I found online at Bed, Bath and beyond:

Fashion fixes in Mae Mauve:
Garden Wallet, Hermes

Per Astra Ad Astra Scarf by Hermes, which translates beautifully for these times to "through adversity to the stars" or sometimes even "a rough road leads to the stars" (wikkipedia)...the color is a muted mint green, but on the website the purple is on the
hermes website

Cute Kurt Geiger Gladiator sandals in Lilac Grey:

Cosa Nostra lilac silk dress:

I am especially loving this pastel color in soft washed silks.... it's subtle and sensual against the skin but very fresh and light for spring. Don't forget to take these pastel hues into night as well, and pairing with a strong black heel can be surprising to the softness of these colors, but edgy enough to make it work.
Have fun playing, darlings!!
