update your looks and take you easily, and stylishly, through the
season.
1. Lacey Tops

This is a HUGE trend this season that can be done in so many ways.
Worn as accents on a camisole beneath a great boyfriend blazer is
killer. I love it peeping out under a cropped leather jacket and
leg jeans with platform heels for a hip downtown look. For
French-chic try a black long sleeve fitted lace top with a high
waist and tailored skirt or wide leg trouser. I also love a black
lace bodysuit or bra beneath a fine jersey white tank top with a
racer back. This little French inspired number is partly borrowed
from the 80’s and 90’s and partly from the lingerie top drawer. I
also love it in hosiery which can add a twist to a short dress or
mini-skirt.
2. Asymmetrical Dresses

Showing a little shoulder is always sexy and, season appropriate.
We've done it as Grecian goddesses in the summer, and going into
fall, it's about the details with collars being offset and cutouts,
such as new-skool cult designer Alexander Wang does in this
dress.
3. Military Influences

Balenciaga to Balmain, Sgt. Pepper never looked more hot. It is a
trend, so don't get too carried away with the look, but it's fun to
add to your coat looks, as it can add some drama to your look.
Moschino coat and skirt featured.
4. Oversize Boyfriend T-Shirt/Tank

To wear layered with straight leg jeans or leggings, I pray this
replaces the Juciy Couture sweatsuits for good. This is such an
easy look to do, and it's very sexy when you expose a shoulder and
make this seemingly boyish look very femme. See blog for more on
this look...
5. Sparkle

This season is filled with sequins, beads and crystals…
embellishments appear everywhere- on clothing, accessories and
jewelry. Weather it’s a matte black sequin blazer dressed down with
a tank and jeans or a gold metallic leather mini skirt worn with a
black bodysuit with a low plunge back and opaque tights and ankle
boots, bling is in-full effect. Consider scouring the local vintage
stores for one of a kind finds that will ensure you are the only
girl at the party in that dress/shirt/skirt. I recently scored a
beaded blouse with a deep v-neck, I simply cut out the shoulder
pads and wear it off the shoulder. Dig the Givenchy tunic
above?
6. Bib Necklaces

In the sparkle mix are the season’s must have jewelry piece- the
bib necklace. They add a big punch to even the most casual pieces.
Worn on the skin with a low neckline or layered on top of a turtle
neck is also very luxe. I love this and plan on doing this many
ways this season, so stay tuned…
7. Rose Gold

I have been way-obsessed with rose gold for a few years now… and
mainstream fashion has been slowly adding elements to their
collections. A man-size chunky wrist watch is a great place to do
it with. I also love rings, like this bracelet and ring set
(featured) by GUCCI. Josie Maran makes gorgeous cosmetics with rose
gold casing made from recyclable materials- so you can bet I will
be dabbing this lipstick in public! I also love metallic rose gold
shoes- LANVIN ballet flats, but then again, who doesn’t!
8. Over the Knee Boots- Suede

Flat or heeled, worn casual or chic, this is a fresh fall trend
that every self-proclaimed fashionista must add into their footwear
wardrobe. I love them flat, almost like a riding boot. Michael Kors
has a great one with gold buttons up the side (featured), while
Prada’s thigh high versions is very sexy – paired with shorts it
looks rather fashionable and not so f-able.
9. Leather, not Pleather…

We’ve seen the leather-effect legging, but leather itself is
massive this season. Winking at the 80’s with their leather craze,
this season’s mini leather skirt is with a high waist and straight.
Black leather is sexy and very rock and roll but softer colors,
such as taupe or caramel, are beautiful and subtle for a change. I
love it a tan leather mini skirt with a long sleeve plaid button up
shirt tucked into it. I love what Charlotte Ronson did (featured).
I will also be looking to Canadian fashion leather house- Rudsak to
see what they did this season!
10. Cropped Pants..or Jodpurs

Smart trousers that end mid-calf can be done for day or night. This
look is very menswear inspired and fun to play with and add your
own twist to it. I love the Balmain downtown tone and the
contrasting upper east side Chloe version. With flats or heels,
ballets or sneakers, this is as ubiquitous as the legging. Make it
your own and bring it this fall!
